La Regione di Osijek e della Baranja e` una Regione
della Croazia. Essa comprende la Slavonia nordorientale e
la parte croata della regione della Baranja, che si estende
a nord della Drava. La Regione e` ubicata al confine con l'Ungheria
e con la provincia autonoma serba della Vojvodina. Capoluogo
della Regione e` Osijek. La Regione di Osijek e della Baranja
e` divisa in 7 citta`: Beli Manastir, Belisce, Donji Miholjac,
Djakovo, Nasice, Osijek, Valpovo e` 35 comuni.
Osijek e` il capoluogo della Contea di Osijek e della
Baranja, sede universitaria. E` situata a 90 m s.l.m. a la
sponda sud della Drava. Con suoi 114.616 abitanti, Osijek
e` il quarto centro della Croazia.
Bizovac is a municipality in Osijek-Baranja county,
there are 4,979 inhabitants. Bizovac has a hotel and spa complex,
with underground heated water originating from remains of
Panonian Sea that covered the region.
Dakovo (sometimes spelled Djakovo) is a town in the
region of Slavonia, 37 km to the southwest of Osijek and 34
km southeast of Nasice. It has a population of 20,912, with
a total of 30,092 in the municipality (census 2001). Chief
occupations include farming, livestock breeding, leather and
wool processing; horse selection centre; major industries
are wood processing (furniture), textiles, chemicals and food
processing, building material, printing and tourism.DÐakovo
is located at the intersection of the main road (M17.01, E73)
Osijek-Dakovo, the regional road Nasice-Dakovo and the railroad
Ploce- Sarajevo-Vrpolje-Osijek-Budapest.
The traditional Slavonian cuisine, famous for its meat specialities
(kulen smoked sausage, kobasica sausages, smoked ham), venison
and freshwater fish dishes are offered both in Dakovo and
its surroundings. Of particular interest are the exquisite
wines of the Dakovo region: Weissburgunder, Traminer and Riesling.
