Njivice - I'ts being in touch with the, inland via
the majestic Krk Bridge, the airport on the island's north-west.
and car-ferry links with the other islands of the Northern
Adriatic have made Krk a tourist destination than can be reached
repidly from any direction. And then there are only another
ten kilometres to Njivice by the island roads from the bridge
or the airport - or you can sail in from the sea.
The one-time fishing village is today a very attractive place
for a holliday among the luxuriant coastal greenery and by
the clean sea. In the midst of the woods, in the vicinity
of the beach where both childern. Those who prefer a more
direct communion with nature can stay in the excellently appointed
auto-camp, while private room and boarding houses offer a
real sense of home.
The pebble and stone beaches in the town, alongside the hotels,
or the hidden coves not far off for those who prefer peace
and quiet, and the naturist beaches close to the camp give
everyone a chance to choose. During the day, and even late
at night, Njivice provides many sporting and recreational
facilities - tennis, boules, mini-golf, table tennis, basketball...
The sea sports facilities are partycularly attractive and
include games, speed--boating, water-skiing, jet-skiing, windsurfing
and even parachute flying.
Walking along the beach, dancing on some terrace, a moment
of relaxation in a cellar typical of this coast to the sound
of an island singing group accompanied by homecured prosciutto
are just some of the ways of spending an evening.
The fishermen's fiestas and performances showing off traditional
costume, song and dance are not be missed, which also goes
for the fish specialities served in restaurants with the fine
wine of the region called Zlahtina.
